Q. I’m concerned about the dangers of using plastic to cook in the microwave. Why is Fasta Pasta® safe?

A. The material used to manufacture Fasta Pasta® is really a polypropylene copolymer and surpasses FDA approval for contact with food in the microwave. It also surpasses the more stringent European specification for food contact while cooking. This is a special resin that will not leak gaseous toxins at high temperatures and classified by the FDA as approved for food contact while cooking. This material is more expensive than food storage plastics. Most plastic storage containers ARE NOT for microwave cooking. They are made of FDA approved plastic for FOOD CONTACT and intended to be used for storing food, not cooking.

Q. I don’t have a turntable on my microwave. Will my pasta still cook properly?

A. Yes.

Q. Can I add salt or oil to cook pasta or vegetables?

A. Yes.

Q. I want to cook more than four servings of pasta. Can I use 2 Fasta Pasta® cookers in the microwave?

A. Yes. Multiply the cooking times shown on the cooking chart by 1.5. For example, to cook 8 servings of spaghetti using 2 cookers, multiply the time for 4 servings shown on the chart by 1.5 (15 min. X 1.5 = 22.5 min.)

Q. Why did my Fasta Pasta® boil over?

A. The most common reason is the lid was on the cooker during cooking. Never cook with the lid on Fasta Pasta®. Another reason may be that too much water or pasta was added. Always follow the cooking chart instructions.

Q. My lasagna noodles stuck together. What can I do to prevent this?

A. Different textures, density, and brands of lasagna noodles can affect the quality of pasta cooked in Fasta Pasta®. Here are two suggestions that you might try to keep the noodles from sticking together:

1. Alternate the ridges of the lasagna to allow water to circulate around the noodles.
2. Add a small amount of olive or vegetable oil to the water before cooking.
